The Berkeley Books & Signet covers remind me of the Hardy Boys, somehow -- Frank finally takes advantage of Belinda Conrad's affections, while Arthur Gray can only stare in impotent ennui.

That's some unfortunate packaging -- DARK ends where most books with such covers would start, which probably baffled or grossly flattered the readers who bought those editions based on the jacket and a quick flipthru.
